Hi guys! My name is Haelim and welcome to my blog.
I’m an undergraduate psychology major at The University of Houston. (GO COOGS!) I’m an aspiring researcher, and I hope to be a mental health clinician one day. I’m a coffee snob and crazy about anything with coconuts and pineapples. Oh, and I LOVE carrot cakes. (Weird combo. I know).
I’m also a born again Christian, a child of God.
I decided to start this blog to bring awareness to mental health matters, my journey of healing from my mental health disorders, and lastly, my journey of fulfilling God’s will in my life through all this.
I wanted to call this blog “Haelim’s Couch” because I want this space to be an open environment where my readers can feel comfortable enough to talk about these “deep topics” like you would when you sit in a therapist’s couch.
I thought I was suffering with Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) my whole life. However, I was officially diagnosed with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) in early July of 2018 by a psychiatrist.
I don’t let these disorders define me.
I don’t let my treatments define me.
Everyone has a story, so do I.
My name is Haelim, and welcome to my blog.
P.s I want to put a FULL DISCLAIMER out there that I am NOT a licensed mental health clinician. I am not one to give advice for treatment or diagnose a mental disorder. I’m just here as someone that went through different treatments for my mental health, and I want to share my experience and (hopefully) be an encouragement to whomever that may be facing or have faced similar things in the past, and bring awareness to these matters.
